Position offered to PhD in Humanities has description with this in it: Humanities scholars have paid close attention to how the Anthropocene's geo-logics (linear, stratigraphic time) limit our understanding of history and environmental justice. Many of these critical interventions into "earth history" have taught us about the racist and capitalist foundations of modernity's environmental crisis, yet have not provided clear pathways to solutions. The Institute's goal is to develop an environmentally inclusive humanities that fosters affective responses and intellectual practices that help us "move the world," rather than just "think the world". We invoke the fluid qualities of water and air currents to mobilize emotions related to precarity, in the hope that they can generate an affectively-informed environmental humanities.

Please get a load of the use of the word “Anthropocene” This is the new way of not saying human (rather than humxn) The characteristics of humans are determined in regards to geo-logics, now we have a domain of thought about the environment which is described as using linearity, using time (as a construct, which I agree with myself), and stratigraphic (geology that deals with the origin, composition, distribution, and succession of strata), heck, the much admired figure of the Left, Michel Foucault, certainly used these ways of thinking, in part. Though Foucault did speak of linearity of time and knowledge as having fissures, which created what he called episteme. I guess we throw them out as well.  Somehow racism and capitalism have destroyed the planet (more later)..  Maybe, if we are socialists AOC will tell us every move to make to protect the environment, which supersedes our existence.  Anthropocenes are irrelevant, obsolete. The goal is to reduce us to a manageable size.  Humans are inherently dangerous to the most important environment. I would not apply for this one. Maybe a future blog post on "move the world, not think the world"  We’ll see . . . . . . . .
