Zbigniew Janowski reports, in Homo Americanus: the Rise of Totalitarian Democracy in America, that George “Orwell was, no doubt, a very acute observer and aware of the fact that changes in language constitute the core of social consciousness, and if it is weak, a return to normalcy is impossible” In Orwell’s 1984 as Janowski writes “the Party would coin new vocabulary and slogans to patch up holes in social reality, of which ‘The workers with the Party and the Party with the Nation’ was probably the best sounding and socially effective, but also the most pernicious . . . If you stand up to the Party, the Party has the right to crush you, and it will do it in the name of the nation, which stands behind it.” I, at wewillnotcave, want you to notice the use of the words “language” and “nation.” It must become apparent to you that, as Janowski talks about a one-party system, and that was how it was in Orwell’s 1984, “language” about the “nation” is crucial.  When a party gains total and absolute power, totalitarian power, then it defines the reality which the society in general understands to be the case (objective truth).

Language means everything and must be focused on, because when we lose it we lose everything.  The way we conceptualize everything in our reality is through the use of language. The world is defined with and by language.  “We are born into language,” as Jacques Lacan (the great French psychoanalyst) has demonstrated.  What is important to get from this is that a “nation” can be eliminated by a single party system.  The idea of “nation” must be understood and can be destroyed, granted this is largely in our hands right now. The way that there can become a one government system is when the idea “nation” is destroyed.  If real change does not happen soon, then we may have no choice left.
