Derrida's religion (read them and weep

Harris B Bechtol explains that Derrida's religion which is religion without religion is " Jewish or hebraic" in origin which makes sense given the work of Gideon Ofrat on Derrida's Jewishness.  At the least Derrida's religion is derived from Abrahamic ideas.  Another person's work who is significant is Simone Weil obscurantist and negative theologian. Weil writes about awaiting God and shows that God comes to us.  This is reminiscent of Abraham Herschel's God in search of Mxn.  Starting from less than and moving upward God reaches out to us by either emptying God's self as in Philippians.  Bechtol explains that Derrida's reading of Genesis 22 (see Emmanuel Levinas and Soren Kierkegaard) "does not require belief in the historicity of Genesis 22"  historicity does not matter to the scholarly reading of a text. I H Marshall once wrote a book entitled Luke: historian or theologian which addresses this dichotomy which faces scholars as they attempt to do "a close reading" of any text.
